Policy Efforts To Combat Systemic Racism and Racial Discrimination

United Nations Permanent Forum of People of African Descent International Civil Society Working Group

The Working Group of Experts on People of African Descent Theme # 2: “Policy efforts to combat systemic racism and racial discrimination”

In 2021, the UN General Assembly adopted resolution 75/314, which formally operationalized the Permanent Forum on People of African Descent (PFPAD).

The International Civil Society Working Group for the Permanent Forum on People of African Descent (ICSWG) is a coalition of organizations and people of African Descent from all over the globe. The ICSWG’s mission is to ensure that the Forum reflects and represents the will and vision of People of African Descent.

As part of my work as the ABPsi Global Pan African Initiative chair, I have been participating with the International Civil Society Working Group for the UN Permanent Forum on People of African Descent, particularly the Education and Outreach Subcommittee.

Leading up to the first session of the Permanent Forum on People of African Descent in Geneva, Switzerland this December (the 5th through the 8th ), I was asked to be part of a pre-permanent side event (Nov 30, 2022) forum (see attached), entitled, (Skh): Repairing Spirit Damage and Restoring Wellness in the African World; NCOBRA’s Harm Report (Enola Aird CHN), and Transgenerational Epigenetic Effects (Siphiwe Baleka, Balanta Society); and to submit a “stakeholders Report.”
